There are a handful of fantastic beaches on which to escape the heat of the city, as well as some beautiful parks and gardens well worth exploring. The Guindy National Park, National Shrine of St Thomas Basilica, Fort of St George and a selection of the many temples in Chennai are all worthy of any sightseeing tour.
Weather in South India
South India enjoys a tropical climate, including a monsoon season, which occurs from June until October. The rest of the year is very dry, with temperatures of more than 40˚C not uncommon during the hottest months, from March until June.
Cheap flights to South India
There are many airports in South India, although the only one that receives direct flights from the UK is Chennai (MAA), which receives direct British Airways flights from London Heathrow (LHR).
