Make a holiday rental home or villa in Licciana Nardi, Italy your home away from home
The village of Licciana Nardi is now one of the most popular holiday rental destinations in the Massa Carrara province of Tuscany, with an ever-increasing number of holidaymakers discovering this formerly forgotten spot high on the course of the Magra River. With holiday rental accommodation in the towns of Massa and Carrara limited in their numbers, the cottages and townhouses in Licciana Nardi make a great alternative for exploring this under-rated region.
Things to do in Licciana Nardi, Italy
The landscape around Licciana Nardi is rich and varied, with flat areas, small hills and challenging mountain terrain all to be found. This makes the village a good base for outdoor pursuits, as it offers something for everyone, and the hardest part is deciding whether you will explore on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
The most important historical site in the village of Licciana Nardi is the 12th century Monti Castle, though unfortunately it is no longer open to the public unless you book an appointment in advance. There are several old buildings you can visit, however, including the beautiful parish church - parts of which date back to the 11th century.
When it comes to eating and drinking you will be spoilt for choice. Tuscany is famous for its cuisine, and the local winter dish of the Lunigiana area is torta d’erbi – a pie made with onions, leeks, chard and other vegetables. A lighter version can also be enjoyed during spring and summer months. Dishes such as these can be purchased in the local restaurants, and there are a couple of excellent dining options in the neighbouring village of Pontebosio, just 2km up the river.
