The old town (Stari Grad) which lies on a peninsula jutting out into the waters of the Adriatic is a maze of narrow streets, home to many famous buildings and awash with culture. The many important religious buildings of Budva are found here, of which the beautiful Church Sv. Trojica and the Monetary Stanjevici are among the most beautiful, and if you get tires of sightseeing, there are many great pavement cafes and restaurants in which to relax and take in the view.

During the summer months, the “Theatre City” Festival and the Music Festival Budva turn the streets of the old town into an open air theatre, with every building, wall and street becoming the focus of a play, concert or performance of some variety. St Nikola’s Isle is a favourite destination for a day trip from accommodation in Budva. Boats leave throughout the day in summer time, leaving from the Budva beaches. The isle looks as if it is sinking, with sharp cliffs plummeting into the sea on three sides, hiding isolated coves which are a real adventure to reach but very romantic when you do. The other end of the island slopes gently into the sea, via three long, sandy beaches, which are the most popular picnic spot in Budva!

The long, hot and dry summers last from early May until October, with water temperatures in the sea remaining above 18˚C and average air temperatures above 23˚C for the entire period, giving Budva a six month beach season. Even the winter months are mild, with average temperatures in January remaining above 8˚C.
