With a population of just over 200 people, Juviles is one of the smallest and most peaceful villages in the Alpujarra district of southern Spain. It is located in one of the highest parts of the mountains, around 1200m above sea level, meaning some stunning views can be witnessed when walking around the village. The area is popular with walkers and hikers anxious to head into the hills and enjoy all of the benefits of nature, with a diverse range of flora and fauna waiting to be discovered.
Those who head to Juviles on a relaxing break will not be disappointed either. Amenities in the village are basic but adequate for self-caterers, with a few small shops and traditional tapas-bars. The bars also serve up great local dishes at more than reasonable prices. The beaches of the Costa Tropical can also be reached in under an hour, so with mountains on one side and the sea on the other, visitors to Juviles really are spoilt for choice.
