Monda has ancient roots, as it is mentioned in Julius Caesar’s memoirs as ‘Munda’ in 45BC. There is a pretty church square and a castle which dates back to the time of the Phoenicians, around 2000BC. Monda is now a delightful Spanish village with several tapas bars and restaurants, a grocery store, English-speaking chemist and a bakery. It is a great centre from which to walk in the surrounding countryside, visit the local beaches or explore other local towns such as the impressive valley of Ronda. Beaches - The nearest beach to your Monda villa is 18km away on the Costa del Sol near Marbella. There is a choice of sandy beaches along this lovely coastline for safe swimming, sunbathing and watersports.
Golf - The Costa del Sol is synonymous with golf and many world tournaments are played on the excellent courses in this area.
Visit the Castle - Monda Castle is within easy walking distance from your Monda villa. This ancient castle certainly goes back to Roman times, possibly earlier. An archeological dig found pottery and tools on the site from 2000BC. This beautiful property has been extensively restored and is now a luxury hotel with a restaurant which is open to non-residents.

Al Hambra - The ancient fortified city of Al Hambra in Granada with its massive walls and pretty gardens is just a 2 hour drive from your accommodation in Monda, through some incredible mountain scenery. Built by the Moors over 1000 years ago, it stands high on a cliff face of rock and has magnificent views. The city of Granada is also an impressive place to explore.
Aqua Velis WaterPark - The largest water park in the region is 80km (50 miles) from your self catering Monda villa. It is a great place to cool off in the hot summer. With 20 water-based rides, slides, pools and a lazy river ride, a visit here will happily occupy the family for a whole day.
Marbella - This classy resort is well known for its expensive boutiques and beautiful shops in the old town. This is a wonderful laid back place to enjoy sangria and tapas with many restaurants along the sea front. It is fun to people-watch as local families promenade in the evening. There is a huge marina full of multi-million dollar yachts. Day trips to Morocco can also be booked from the port.
