Places to Visit Near the Amber Valley, Derbyshire Wingfield Manor

Set outside the village of South Wingfield, this seemingly peaceful stately home has a turbulent history. It was here that the Babington plot involving Mary Queen of Scots was hatched.

Belper

This small market town is full of small local shops and family owned stores as well as larger high street names. There are some interesting antique shops and cafés and there is a monthly Farmers' Market selling local produce. The De Bradelei Stores is a unique shopping outlet in a beautifully restored local mill.

Matlock

The scenic town of Matlock has many shops and points of interest. The Masson Mill was a water-powered cotton mill driven by a water wheel from 1783 and is now a world Heritage Site.
