Also situated on the River Exe is the historic family home of the Earl of Devon, Powderham Castle.

The Escot Gardens, Maze & Fantasy Woodland is a place for people who love nature. It has over two hundred acres of parkland trails to explore, plus, birds of prey and falconry displays, otters, red squirrels and wild boar, wetlands and waterfowl and a restaurant. Canonteign Falls in theTeign Valley is the highest waterfall in England and these ancient woodlands also have abundant wildlife. Places of historic interest include Salem Chapel, Cadhay, Exeter Cathedral, Exeter's Underground Passages, Ugbrooke Park, the home of the Lords Clifford of Chudleigh and Compton Castle.

Horse racing enthusiasts can visit Newton Abbot Racecourse and Budleigh Salterton has its own riding stables for those wanting riding lessons or hacks. The Budleigh Salterton Sea Angling Club is based at Exmouth and Sidmouth has a sea angling a sailing club.
