Galmpton is a lovely village in Torbay in South Devon situated between Paignton and Brixham in an outstanding area known as Greenway with well-maintained footpaths with stunning views. The National Trust own the Grade 11 listed house and garden of the Greenway Estate. The heart of the village sits close to Dittisham Lake and the River Dart and close to Torquay, the centre of the English Riviera. Other neighbouring towns include Broadsands, Dittisham, Churston, Waddeton and Stoke Gabriel. It is home of Galmpton United Football Club and the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway station of Churston is less than a mile away.

There are some lovely walks around the area past limestone quarries, the creek (a small beach and boat yard) and stunning views of the Dart Valley. The local Heritage Initiative has a trail that takes in the Bolt Trail Iron-Age Fort, Burleigh Dolts Iron-age Fort and The Ruins of St Andrew’s Church in South Huish.

The Creek is perfect for boating, fishing, as are Bickerton Farm Fishery and Combe Water Fisheries, sightseeing, photography and wildlife and birdwatching. Warborough Common near the Dartmouth road has a war memorial and an old Windmill. If you want golfing facilities, then there is Churston Golf Club and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. Brixham has a Heritage Museum and Aquarium. National Trust properties in the area include Coleton Fishacre, Compton Castle, The Church House, Overbeck's and A la Ronde.

For family fun and animal lovers there is Paignton Zoo, Pennywell Farm and Wildlife Centre, Woodlands Leisure Park or you can combine trips on the River Dart with the Steam Railway. Other attractions include Newton Abbot Racecourse, Ugbrooke Park and High Cross House.
