Places to holiday in Hastings, East Sussex

Traversing into East Sussex enriches anyone who ventures to this community of ancient ruins amidst a thriving seaside community. Outdoor activities give the opportunity to take a walk on any section of the path between Hastings and Rye, to cycle, bird watch, or simply relax in one of Hastings' self catering cottages.

Visitors can walk through history or simply stroll along cliff top heights, exploring charming areas of ancient woodlands and unique animal and plant life in Hastings Country Park. Pelham Beach is an equally relaxing atmosphere, especially for families with the beaches efforts to maintain children’s safety. Other less traditional beachside locations include an area which allows visitors to watch as fisherman do daily work on the shore, getting ready to leave a community known as having the largest active fleet of fishing boats in England. This is as much entertaining as it is educational.

An upcoming cultural scene has given this community many venues from which to choose including the Stables Theatre and Art Center, hosting musical and theatrical performances. Electric Palace Cinema shows a variety of films in the heart of Old Town which is also the home of the Hasting Old Town Hall Museum which gives good background information on the community. A bit of the bizarre is found in the communities huts which had the original purpose of drying fishing nets. Various sizes and shapes and a lack of uniformity is seen amongst these tiny unique structures. Visitors seeking nothing more than a pint and the charming environment of a quiet local hangout can find several pubs along the seafront dating back to the early 1700’s.
