A short distance from neighboring Cawsand lays Kingsand. Both villages are tranquil locations and award winning in the Cornish community for the manner in which both villages are maintained. Kingsand is located on Cawsand Bay and has a quiet charm with is three small beaches which are a mix of sand and shingle. Rockpooling is great fun form a Kingsand cottage, with many interesting rock pools, as well as the coastal landscape allowing anyone to enjoy bird watching, fishing, windsurfing, waterskiing, and swimming. This area is also a popular location for yachts to anchor. Simply sitting on the shore and taking in the spectacular view of Plymouth Sound is a worthwhile activity where beaches are typically not as crowded as other larger coastal regions in Cornwall.

Kingsand is abundant with outdoor activities like a walk on the Southwest Coastal Path. Opportunities to cross the Rame peninsula on a ferry to various historical sites make a fun adventure. Kingsand’s town square is a wonderful location to shop for a souvenir, jewelry, or take in the work of local painters and sculptors at the community’s small gallery. Look no further than Kingsand’s coastline for reminders of the areas history as a smuggling community, where old fish cellars and boat stores are still in existence. Walk around the village and find the clock tower which was erected to commemorate the coronation of King George V. Kingsand’s quiet charm is also reflected in a variety of historical sites around the small village. Best known is the clock tower. Those seeking a short voyage will find a ferry which operates between Kingsand and the historic Mayflower Steps, in Plymouth. This is where the English set sail for the United States, in the 1600’s. In the area is a beautiful Elizabethan garden which commemorates the Mayflower’s voyage.

Other rich historical areas include a different however equally short journey across the Rame Peninsula to Plymouth, in clear view of Kingsand beaches. In the 1500’s, the former Earl of Mount Edgcumbe constructed the Mount Edgcumbe House which was later damaged and renovated after WWII. Neo-Georgian décor and beautiful gardens surround the premises making this a pleasant area to visit.
