Upon your arrival at any Penzance cottage, you should leave a few hours to explore the town. There is so much to see and explore that leaving any less will mean you miss out on a huge amount. The Georgian Theatre is thought to be the oldest example in the country, and there are a great range of museums to visit documenting the rich history of this fascinating town. The Maritime Museum is a must, and the National Lighthouse Museum, Geological Museum and Morrab Gardens should certainly not be missed from Penzance cottages either. After a day of exploring, a pint in the town’s oldest pub, the Turk’s Head is always a welcome experience!
June is a fantastic time to be staying in Penzance cottages. The Golowan and Mazey Day celebrations bring the whole town to life in a splash of colour and noise. The events, celebrating the Feast of St John, is a huge spectacle, lasting a whole week, and culminating in a huge parade. The festivals pagan midsummer origins are clear, and on Mazey Day, which falls the day after the end of the Golowan parades, sees traffic banned and the streets inundated with stalls.
Of course, no guide to Penzance accommodation would be complete without a mention of the seaside! Cornwall’s only promenade runs from the harbour towards Newlyn for over a mile, leading people towards the closest beaches to the town itself, Tolcarne and Wherrytown. To the East lies the Eastern Green beach, but there are a great deal locally to choose from. Water sports, especially sailing is always easy to arrange from Penzance cottages.

Ferries leave for the Isles of Scilly daily from Penzance, and if you are staying in Penzance cottages for any length of time, the trip is well worth making. The islands are an absolute joy to explore, especially for those with an interest in sailing, walking, golf or nature. Windsurfers also flock here, as well as those looking for a beautiful landscapes and absolute peace.

Penzance has its own train station, which makes reaching Penzance accommodation very easy, but if you are looking to explore the whole region, having access to a car is strongly advised whilst staying in Penzance cottages.
