Make a holiday rental home or villa in Seggiano, Italy your home away from home

The comune of Seggiano is one of the more popular destinations in the Grosseto province for a self-catering holiday, and a quick glimpse at any Tuscan guide book should explain why; Seggiano is the home of a whole host of food production companies, and visitors flock from miles around to sample some of the best cheeses, olive oils, pastas, honeys and wines they will ever taste – all created in the true Tuscan style.

Things to do in Seggiano, Italy

Seggiano is a great destination for a holiday of relaxing and enjoying the local cuisine, with a number of cafés, pizzerias, restaurants, supermarkets and grocery shops to be taken advantage of either in the centre of the village or in the surrounding area.

If you are a real food lover you should consider visiting Seggiano during the time of one of the local festivals, the majority of which carry some link to the local cuisine. Early August is a particularly busy time in the events calendar, when local specialities such as soup, pasta and olive oil are celebrated and there are many opportunities for tasting to be enjoyed.

A great way of burning off those excess calories is to take a trip to nearby Monte Amiata. This natural park has something to offer all the way through the year, with hiking, walking and nature-spotting opportunities during spring and summer, and the possibility of skiing and other cold-weather activities during winter.

Just a short journey from the centre of Seggiano is the Giardino di Daniel Spoerri – a delightful sculpture garden created by the Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri, a man often regarded as one of the most important artists of the 20th century. The gardens are the perfect glimpse of his work, being both intriguing and beautifully designed.

Places to visit on holiday in Seggiano, Italy

Florence, Pisa and Perugia are all viable day trips from your villa in Seggiano, but if you are searching for something a little closer to your base you may wish to consider the neighbouring municipality of Castel del Piano, which is just 6km away and the home of a lovingly preserved church. The province capital of Grosseto can also be reached in under an hour by car, being 61km from Seggiano.

Weather in Seggiano, Italy

The weather in Seggiano is typical of the majority of Tuscany, with warm to hot summers and mild winters. July and August are understandably the hottest months of the year, but late spring and early autumn are also great times in which to visit, and you will have the added bonus of avoiding the busiest of the tourist periods.

Flights to Seggiano, Italy

Seggiano can be reached in a number of ways, as there are several airports within relatively close proximity to the village. One of the cheapest options is to book a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to San Egidio Airport (PEG), then make the remaining 108km journey from Perugia by rental car.
