Although Sesmarias is not a huge tourist destination in itself, it is a delightful place to be based on the Algarve coast, and is home to a handful of excellent restaurants, a supermarket and numerous tennis courts and swimming pools, meaning that you will have all you need to enjoy a wonderful holiday right on your doorstep. A leisurely 10 minute walk from your Sesmarias villa will also place you on one of three of the finest beaches in the whole of the Algarve; Sao Rafael Beach, Evaristo Beach or Castelo Beach. Fishing, scuba diving and sight seeing trips can all be organised from these beaches too.

The countryside behind the village is perfect for exploration on foot, bike or horseback. The coastal paths which stretch away from a Sesmarias villa towards Lagoa and Albufiera are brilliant for walking and cycling, especially if you take your bathing costume with you for when you stumble across the perfect spot for a dip. Locations for the start of routes, stables and bike hire centres are available from the Sesmarias information centre.

There are plenty of activity centres to keep children happy during a family holiday to Sesmarias. The Splash n’Slide water park is the largest in Europe, offering many hours of entertainment, and is located within half an hour of a Sesmarias villa, as are the Zoo Marine Park in Guia, Aqualand and Krazy World in Algoz.

Sesmarias is excellently located for exploration of the central region of the Algarve. The favourite tourist centre in the Algarve, Albufiera is just 4km away, and within 10 minutes driving you could be exploring the delightful towns of Lagoa, Portimao and Carvoeiro and all they have to offer, from the water sports of Carvoeiro to the championship golf courses around Portimao.

The Mediterranean climate of the Algarve is a huge asset to the region. There is never a bad time to visit as even during the depths of winter, average monthly temperatures are very marginally less than average July temperatures in Britain! In summer, temperatures soar into the mid 30’s (˚C) on the vast majority of days, and the evenings are delightfully warm, allowing you to sit comfortably on the beach and watch the sun disappear over the horizon.
