If you are planning on holidaying in the wonderful city of Florence, you can choose to stay in the city itself – or you may instead decide to base yourself in an outlying rural village such as Settignano. Things to do in Settignano, Italy
Settignano is a rural village that offers all of the scenery you will have dreamed of when planning your perfect Tuscan vacation. This includes rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and oak trees that are ideal for walking in and exploring around. As you stroll amongst this unspoilt paradise you will find it hard to believe that the attractions of a large city are also literally on your doorstep.
Around the village are several sites of interest, the majority of which are located around the main piazza. This is also where you will find local businesses, which go about their duties in much the same way as they have done for generations. You will not find any fast food joints or high street chains here – only family grocers, small food shops and traditional Tuscan businesses offering local goods at local prices.
Once you have settled in to Settignano you will likely wish to explore the delights of Florence, and there are a number of ways to get to this icon of Tuscany. Public transport links between the two destinations are good, hire car is easy to arrange and offers the most in the way of flexibility, and you can even reach Florence by bicycle in around half an hour – though you may be ready for an energy-boosting Italian coffee by the time you get there!
