Sitia really comes to life in the evenings, especially around the old port. There is a fantastic atmosphere during the evenings, especially as the locals love to dress up in the evenings before heading down to the beach bars that surround the port. Although tourism does thrive in Sitia, Crete, the majority of restaurants, bars and shops are aimed at the locals, perfect for those wishing to truly explore local lifestyles and cultures. Temperatures regularly reach into the low 30’s (˚C) during the summer months, but thankfully for those of us who prefer temperatures hot but not scorching, summer conditions rarely soar much further. The tiny Sitia Airport (JSH) is an important transport hub in Crete, Greece. Sitia Airport unfortunately doesn’t receive direct flights from the UK, but it is well connected with other Greek airports including Athens (ATH), which makes reaching a Sitia property really easy. There are also regular ferry services from Athens’ Pireaus Port.
