Although you can still ski on many of the high altitude glaciers, it is sturdy walking boots, mountains bikes and climbing ropes which take up the space at the back of local busses, not skis and snowboards. The Portes du Soleil resort is one of the most developed, and has a huge number of sports facilities covering an incredible range of sports and leisure activities.

However, flights direct from the UK are quite expensive due to the charter nature of the flights which land here.
