Make a holiday rental apartment or property in Stockholm your home away from home
Stockholm is a stunning city, set on the banks of the meandering River Norrström that makes the very short connection between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic, and across 14 islands in the lake itself. Stockholm, the Swedish capital, has one of most beautiful and well preserved medieval centres of any European city, and with breath-taking scenery emanating in every direction, the city really has to be seen to be believed.
Things to do in Stockholm
There are very few cities that you can explore by canoe, and Stockholm is one of them! There are a number of canoeing clubs that happily rent canoes to visitors, allowing you the absolute freedom to explore. When you rent a canoe, the providers are always more than happy to suggest routes to explore and Stockholm tourist information for the best sights to see. There are a huge number of things to see in Stockholm, especially in the ancient city centre, which is one of the finest medieval treasures in the whole of Europe. For those that would prefer to stay dry, cycling tours of Stockholm are just as exciting!
Relaxation goes hand in hand with holidays to Stockholm. Spa treatments take on an extra level of luxury in Sweden, and Stockholm is certainly no exception. There are ten world class, luxury spa centres in Stockholm where you can enjoy the famous Swedish massages, as well as a great range of other treatments.
There are some 60 golf courses in the Stockholm region, all carved from the thick woodland and lake landscapes in which the city stands. There is always a fantastic challenge to be had and you are guaranteed to be punished for any wayward shots with plentiful water hazards and totally unforgiving rough! To play golf on the larger courses on a Stockholm holiday you must have a green card, but there are a good range of pay and play courses too. Despite the enormous range of courses, booking early is the only way to ensure you get your ideal tee-off time.
Places to visit on holiday in Stockholm
The countryside that surrounds Stockholm is beautiful. The deciduous forests that stretch to the horizon in every direction are a fantastic asset for anyone staying in Stockholm accommodation that loves the great outdoors and nature. During the winter months, cross country skiing is hugely popular, and local recreation areas including Lida Friluftsgård, Rudan and Hellasgården offer a great range of skating, slalom skiing, dog sledding, winter swimming and sauna facilities.
Weather in Stockholm
The seasons are very distinct on Stockholm holidays. The summers are wonderfully warm, and many of the bars open out onto the streets to celebrate the balmy evenings. Daily temperatures tend to reach into the mid to high 20’s (˚C) during June, July and August, whilst during the winter, when the city only receives an hour or two of sunlight, temperatures average a little bellow freezing.
Cheap flights to Stockholm
There are no less than four airports in Stockholm, Arlanda (ARN), Bromma (BMA), Skavsta (NYO) and Västerås (VST), three of which (all except Bromma) receive direct flights from the UK. British Airways, Scandinavian Airlines and Ryanair provide the majority of services, but other airlines do fly here too.
