Teguise is a wonderfully peaceful place for the majority of the week. There are no hotels in Teguise, which leaves the village for independent travellers staying in private accommodation. Teguise’s shaded squares and perfectly preserved historic buildings give the appearance of being a living open air museum, and if you have any interest in history, Teguise is the first place you should visit if you are on the Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. The oldest building in the whole of the Canary Islands, the Palacio de Marques, still stands proudly and elegantly in Teguise.

The one day of the week that the town is not peaceful is Sunday. The Teguise Market is the largest on the island, taking over the streets. Teguise Market is a wonderful thing to experience, well worth throwing yourself into, whether you are staying in a Teguise villa or further afield on the Costa Teguise. During the Teguise market, there are often live bands playing, Canarian sporting displays and always excellent little kitchens producing mouth watering aromas that waft across the town.

The rest of the week sees Teguise return to normality, with visitors and locals arriving in Teguise to eat the finest traditional Canarian food in the magnificent bodegas and shop in the excellent specialist shops that line the streets.

Costa Teguise villas are in extremely high demand due to the stunning expanses of golden sand that lines the coastline. The beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety for many consecutive years, and travellers and families have flocked to the Costa Teguise for many years to take advantage of the soft sands and clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. Windsurfing is a particularly popular activity along the Costa Teguise due to the reliable winds and deep sea fishing trips are readily available in the area.

Weather in Teguise, Lanzarote

Teguise is a year round destination for sun. During the summer, temperatures are hot, usually breaking into the mid-30’s (˚C) during the heat of the day, although the reliable sea breezes keep the air fresh and circulating. Even during the colder winter months, temperatures are into the mid-20’s during the day, which is easily warm enough for water sports and long evenings outside.

Cheap flights to Teguise, Lanzarote

A holiday rental home in Teguise is within half an hour of Lanzarote’s Arracife Airport (ACE). There are regular flights to Arracife from all major British airports, largely provided by EasyJet and ThomsonFly. If you would like to explore the whole of Lanzarote from Teguise accommodation, taking a hire car from the airport is advisable.
