Places to holiday in Teignmouth, Devon

A history in salt production and the fishing industry gave way to tourism in the mid 1800’s when the railway made its path through Teignmouth. This centuries old tourism industry makes the community welcome to anyone who ventures to its coastal shores. This beautiful community of beaches surrounded by red sandstone cliffs is one of Devon’s most popular holiday getaways.

A sand and shingle beach provide a great spot for simply watching the oceans water lap against the shore or to explore the Jurassic Coastline or Portland Bill on a sunny day. There are plenty of restaurants and shops around the area, as well as miniature golf and a children’s playground making it a great location to relax for the day with your family. Other outdoor adventures include trips to neighboring communities for a day of salmon fishing. Any adventure is found in close proximity to any guest house or Teignmouth self catering cottage.

Those seeking activities on dry land have several choices. Restaurants serving both ethnic and regional cuisine are many, as well as pubs which have anything from a family friendly atmosphere with adjoining playgrounds to pubs with lively bands playing inside.

As the only historical pier in the area, the present day pier is a fun location for families with many children’s rides, a go kart track and plenty of quaint shops to get lost in.
