The greenery of the area means that hiking, walking and being at one with nature are all popular pastimes, and for the vast majority of the year the glorious sunny weather and warm temperatures are perfect for these activities. Cycling is another way of getting about, and around the historical town centre are a number of points of interest, including a museum dedicated to local earthenware – the Musee des faiences de Thiviers, which is inside the City Hall. There are also a number of excellent restaurants to be found in Thiviers, and you can be assured that they will only be serving the finest and freshest local produce at value for money prices.
The region around Thiviers is perfect for those that want to make local food and wine a key element of their stay. The town is in the very heart of the Truffle and Foie Gras region of France, and has a museum dedicated to the subject on Place Foch - the simply-named Musee du Foie Gras. There is also a duck and goose museum within the same building, and these museums are an excellent place to pick up some of the excellent pate to take back to your self-catering accommodation. There is also an excellent Tuesday morning market that should not be missed by any visitor.

The weather in Thiviers is considerably warmer than the UK, with summer temperatures that can rise above 30C. Spring and autumn are also good times in which to visit, and though rainfall increases in winter (keeping the area green), temperatures during this period are far from cold.

Limoges - Bellegarde Airport (LIG) is 53km from Thiviers, and can be reached through budget airlines Ryanair and Flybe, from a variety of UK destinations. Another option is to fly to Bergerac – Roumaniere Airport (EGC), which is 72km south of your destination. The use of a hire car is the best way to get to your accommodation upon landing.
