June is an important time in the town’s calendar, with a number of festivals through the first two weeks of the month, culminating in the spectacular Festival of San Juan.

Those seeking something a bit more refined can pay a visit to a number of historical landmarks, including the 18th century Church of Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria, the Church of San Antonio, the old houses of Casa Pascacia and Casa Parroquial, and even the old cemetery.

Even if you are seeking a relaxing break it is highly recommended that you spend at least one day in nearby Puerto del Carmen. The busy tourist hub has some of the island’s finest sandy beaches, a wide variety of water sports to enjoy, a busy nightlife and some superb restaurants. Another option is to explore the many smaller, traditional fishing villages along the coast, some of which (such as Playa Blanca) attract tourists, whilst others remain largely untouched.

Lanzarote is one of the few places in Europe that can claim to have excellent weather all through the year. With summer average temperatures of above 27C, and mild winters that are rarely below 16C, you vacation in Tias can be enjoyed in any month. Try a July break for the peak holiday season, or December for some much-needed winter sun.
