Treviso is an ancient town which has been lovingly restored after heavy bombing during WWII. The maze of twisting streets are wonderful to walk through, with sections of ancient frescos providing colour at every turn. Starting your day with a coffee in one of the pavement cafes in the town’s ancient centre, the Piazza dei Signori, never fails to inspire and invigorate, and with the Treviso Tourist Information offices close by, it is a great place to plan your day in the morning sun. There are a great range of sites to see from accommodation in Treviso from the impressive Duomo to the striking Chiesa di San Nicolo. There are some excellent themed sightseeing walks in Treviso, with information and suggested route maps available from the Treviso Tourist Information centre on Piazza Monte di Pieta. The Civic Museum and Wine Roads of Treviso are also well worth exploration from a Treviso villa.
The River Sile National Park is host to a wonderful array of festivals and events throughout the year in Treviso. There are plenty of traditional displays and ancient customs to enjoy throughout the summer, although the most exciting events in the park are the Festa sul Sile on the first Sunday in July and the Sagra di Caposile on the second Sunday of September, when the finest rowing crews battle it out over an 8 mile course. The Fiera di San Luca is the most famous event, as well as the oldest, in Treviso, offering a chance to try the finest of local foods and enjoy the party atmosphere.
