Traveller Review and Owner Response Guidelines
Reviews and responses that are not in compliance with the guidelines presented below are subject to removal.
General Guidelines
- Traveller reviews and owner responses are the subjective opinions of HomeAway Holiday-Rentals travellers and owners and not of HomeAway UK Ltd.
- HomeAway Holiday-Rentals does not investigate or guarantee the accuracy of reviews or responses.
- HomeAway Holiday-Rentals does not alter the content (wording) of reviews or responses.
- HomeAway Holiday-Rentals reserves the right to remove any review or response at any time.
Eligibility Guidelines - To review a property or respond to a review, the traveller/owner must meet the following requirements:
- The traveller (or a member of the rental party) must be able to provide evidence of stay.
- The traveller must have arrived at the rental property within the scheduled dates of stay per the rental agreement.
- The traveller must provide a valid email address that can be confirmed by receipt of a HomeAway Holiday-Rentals review confirmation email.
- The traveller may review any property listed on HomeAway Holiday-Rentals, regardless of whether or not it was booked through the Holiday-Rentals website.
- A review may be written by any member of the rental party.
- Only one member of the rental party may write a review.
- A traveller may submit only one review for a rental property, regardless of how many times he/she may have stayed there.
- A traveller may contact Customer Support if he/she wishes to update or remove his/her review.
- The traveller must be at least 18 years of age.
- An owner may not review his/her own property.
- Owner Responses must be written by the owner or his/her authorised representative.
Content Guidelines - Reviews and responses must not contain:
- Personal or business contact information including:
- Last names or company names
- Email addresses
- Websites
- Physical addresses
- Phone numbers
- Malicious comments or personal attacks
- Content not suitable for a public forum including:
- Profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, typographic symbols
- Inappropriate slang
- Words with questionable meanings
- References to illicit activities
- Defamatory or libelous content
- References to litigation or law enforcement
- Discriminatory, negative or questionable references regarding:
- Age
- Ethnicity
- Gender
- Disability
- Familial status
- National origin
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
- References to other travel web sites
- Commercial messages/advertisements
- Content that discloses the physical location of the property
- Content that discloses the rental rates charged by the owner
- HTML tags or links
- Content written in all CAPITAL LETTERS
- Content written in a language other than the language of this website
- Content authored by others or published elsewhere
- Content based on rumors or hearsay
- Comments about other reviews, travellers or HomeAway Staff
- Content not substantially related to the traveller's stay at the property
If you see a review or response that fails to conform to the above guidelines, please contact Customer Support. We will investigate any reported abuse and immediately remove reviews or responses that we find are in violation of our guidelines.
