Places to visit on holiday in Vamos, Crete

The village of Vamos itself is a hugely traditional Cretan village, with wide, stone paved streets bordered by wonderfully overgrown stone walls which give the whole village a fantastically natural, timeless atmosphere. The traditional cafes, or kefeneion, make fantastic places to sit for an hour or so, planning your day, watching the world drift slowly by and soaking in the sun, but be warned, many, many hours can be lost to their charm! There are two beautiful churches in Vamos, the Agios Nikolaos and the Agios Georgios, both of which make for stunning viewing, both inside and out.

Average temperatures in July and August reach 27˚C, with daily peaks usually reaching 35˚C but not much more. In the winter months, you are unlikely to find temperatures dipping below 10˚C.
