Walking around the town means that you discover a huge wealth of historical monuments; turreted medieval walls, ancient mosques and churches in Moorish and gothic styles and the Castle of Vejer de la Frontera. The village has not been discovered by mass tourism, and therefore the quaint flower laden squares, locally focused restaurants and authentic atmosphere are ideal places to soak in the Spanish flavours. Cape Trafalgar, off which the Battle of Trafalgar was fought, is just 15minutes away by car.

Although Vejer de la Frontera is not a beach town, it has excellent access to beaches. It is less than 10 minutes by car from a huge 12km stretch of golden sand known as El Palmar, which is a surfer’s paradise. Surrounding El Palmar are a number of cove beaches, the best of which being Trafalgar Bay, Los Canos and Zahara de los Atunes.

Surrounding the holiday properties in Vejer are plenty of natural resources for outdoor sports. Vejer villas are ideal for serious walking (unmarked trails), mountain biking (quality mountain bikes can be hired from the town, and there are plenty of excellent circular day trails), kayaking in the Acantilado Nature Reserve, climbing, wreck dives, paragliding and some of the best windsurfing in Spain. Dolphins and whales can regularly be seen off the coast on a Vejer holiday.
