Venice is 127km east of Verona City, and well worth a day trip. It takes about 1½ hours to drive there. You need a guide book to make the most of all the historic and world famous attractions such as St Mark’s Basilica and the Bridge of Sighs. Take a water taxi or a more expensive gondola to get around the 150 canals of this beautiful “City of Water”.
Most visitors are drawn to Lake Garda for the spectacular scenery of this unspoilt area. Riva del Garda is one of several small towns spread along the lakeshore. The impressive town square, Piazza III Novembre is the location of the Apponale Tower and Palazzo Pretorio with its 14th century porticos. Some of the best views of Lake Garda can be enjoyed from the top of the Bastion fortress in Riva del Garda.
