There are a number of historical buildings in the centre of Vicchio, and exploring just a few can easily fill a day. Giotto Square – the main focal point of the town – is the place to start, and where you can enjoy an ice cream, coffee or glass of wine and plan whether to head to the Church of S. Giovanni the Baptist, the Museum of Beato Angelico or the birthplace of Giotto – one of the most famous of all the Italian Renaissance painters.
It is hard to mention the name Mugello without mentioning the Mugello circuit, and the famous race track is within easy reach of Vicchio. Events at the circuit vary throughout the year, but whichever month you visit in there is a good chance you will be able to catch either some motorcycle racing or Formula One testing – the highlight of the holiday for sports fans.

Vicchio is close to the other towns and villages of the Mugello region, with Borgo San Lorenzo being one of the closest at just 9km. Borgo San Lorenzo is a charming town that is popular with both locals and tourists due to its water sports options at nearby Lake Bilancino. Attractive Barberino di Mugello is also just a short car journey away, and you will find many more places of interest en route.

The weather in Vicchio is typical of the region, with warm to hot summers and mild winters. Clear skies and sunshine can be expected throughout most of the year, and the only real challenge is avoiding the rain. As a general guideline, June and July are the driest months, whilst November and December are the wettest.

Florence Peretola Airport (FLR) is the nearest airport to Vicchio, but receives an extremely limited number of direct flights from the UK.
