The most notable site in the town is the remains of the old castle, which is also pictured on the local flag and shield. Another point of interest is the Church of Santa Susanna, which dominates the town centre, and is encircled by a bevy of traditional Catalan shops. Agriculture has long been the main economy in Vidreras, and the local produce is of a high standard.

Fishing is the other main source of income for Vidreras, and the best restaurants in town focus on seafood. With Vidreras being slightly off the beaten track you will be pleased to discover that prices are slightly lower than some of the more tourist-orientated towns and cities of the Costa Brava, and the quality is arguably higher.

Lloret De Mar has a well-established reputation as a party capital, but there are also other reasons to make the short journey from Vidreras worthwhile. These include several EU Blue Flag beaches, a number of archaeological sites of interest, and the restored 16th century Church of Sant Roma. 11km east along the coast, Tossa de Mar is a slightly quieter but equally attractive option, often described along the lines of ‘Lloret de Mar before mass tourism’.
